I've had a few questions like this on http://www.flickr.com/photos/mindileatham so I thought I'd post the answer here:

Hi!
I'm Bharath Kishore, also a Paper-craft enthusiast. I came across your "Mermaid" made with water color paper. I'm very impressed by the neatness of the cuts made along the curves small and large. I would like to know if you use any technique or special cutter that helps you, so that I can make some of my own cut-outs. Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Bharath Kishore

Sharp blades make a big difference! I like to use Fiskars Softgrip scissors and often sharpen them with a Fiskars sharpener. I personally prefer scissors to an exacto (unless I'm working on something very tiny) and when I cut I turn the paper more than I move my scissor hand.

Here's what I'm working on today:

His Popeye face looks like Uncle Richard. Does anybody else think so?

Thanks to Stephanie Spears and everyone who made the craft fair on Saturday so much fun! We had a trickster visit our booth several times...the Wind knocked down our signs and displays and blew away our neighbor's tent. The biggest surprise was that our crafts actually outsold Anthony's water. I got a chance to walk around and see all the other booths and there were lots of beautiful things, like jumbo fabric hair flowers and pretty little sundresses, made by ultra talented people.

I just couldn't resist this intelligently designed and perfectly stitched bib made with retro fabrics by Emily Willert of PlumageEtcetera.Etsy.com. She made it with ties instead of Velcro (which used to scratch Superbaby's skin) and arm holes that protect clothing better than just a neck tie. What I love most about Emily's whole line is her hard-to-find fabric selection. Hope you love this bib as much as I do, baby N!

bibb.jpgThe winner of the craft fair drawing is Anna Bailey. She'll be getting her cut paper Kitty in the mail soon!

Got a big box in the mail today from my sister Brooke full of her beautiful crafts to sell at the fair tomorrow. Here are her painted and papered picture frames:

brookeframesb.jpgBrooke made these using the techniques shown on Martha Stewart's website. And here are more of her hair clippies and bows:

Come see me at The Grove Craft Fair this Saturday, April 25 from 9 am to 12 noon. (Address: 20105 S Gilbert Road Chandler, AZ 85286) There will be approximately 50 vendors selling everything from clothing to baked goods and free activities for kids (including a bounce!) I've been promised a rare, shady spot in the courtyard so I should be easy to find.

Here's a taste of some of the goodies you'll find at my table: framed cut paper art works by yours truly, my sister Heidi's beautifully sewn tote bags and my sister Brooke's adorable hair accessories.

Hope to see you there!
